Recover pictures/videos that did not show up on the backup on new phone

I recently changed from iPhone 16 pro max to 18 pro max. I had my back up, but today I wanted to post some concert content and I noticed more than half of my videos and pictures are missing from that day and from previous months. How can I get them back? I don’t understand why I don’t have them when I did a back up.
