Apple Music Hi-Res Lossless and quality info issues on iOS 27
Hello,
I’m experiencing two issues with the Apple Music app since updating my iPhone to the final release of iOS 27 last week.
Everything was working correctly up until the last iOS 27 beta. However, after installing the final version of iOS 27, I noticed the following issues:
1. Hi-Res Lossless playback
In Apple Music settings, both music playback and downloads are set to the highest available quality: Hi-Res Lossless.
However, Apple Music is currently playing certain albums in Lossless quality instead of Hi-Res Lossless, even though the album information clearly states that Hi-Res Lossless is available.
This also happens after downloading the album to the device. The album is downloaded with the settings configured for Hi-Res Lossless, but playback still appears to be limited to Lossless.
My question is: if an album is available in Hi-Res Lossless, why is Apple Music not playing it in that quality when Hi-Res Lossless is selected in the settings?
2. Missing audio quality information
The second issue is that the detailed audio quality information has disappeared from most albums.
Previously, Apple Music displayed information such as:
- Lossless / Hi-Res Lossless
- 16-bit or 24-bit
- Sample rate (e.g. 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 96 kHz, etc.)
Now, for most albums, the only information displayed is “Lossless”, with no indication of the bit depth or sample rate.
I have attached screenshots showing both issues.
These problems appeared after updating to the final release of iOS 27 and were not present in the earlier beta version.
Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue in iOS 27 / Apple Music and whether it is expected to be addressed in a future update?
Thank you.
