Siri and Apple Intelligence basic requests consistently return an error on iPhone

SiriBeta on iosYes. I have already tried several troubleshooting steps, so I would prefer not to repeat them unless you specifically recommend a different procedure.

I have already:

  • Restarted the iPhone.

  • Turned Siri off and back on.

  • Reset Network Settings.

  • Updated the iPhone to iOS 27.0.

  • Tested with VPN and without VPN.

  • Temporarily disabled AdGuard.

  • Tested different network conditions.

  • Confirmed that the Region is currently set to United States.

  • Confirmed that Siri Language is currently English (US).

  • Confirmed that Apple Intelligence is enabled and installed.

  • Confirmed that Siri responds correctly to “What time is it?”, but basic requests such as “What is 2 + 2?”, “What is the capital of France?” and “Tell me a joke” consistently return an error.

The issue is still present.

I would therefore appreciate it if you could check the Siri/Apple Intelligence activation, provisioning, or server-side status for my device and Apple Account.

Hi there

Apple is not actively participating here so we cannot check your activation and server side status

Please try this

Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri. (or Siri)

Turn Apple Intelligence OFF.

Change your device Language and Region to something else (e.g., UK English / United Kingdom).

Restart your phone.

Change your Language and Region back to English (United States) and United States.

Return to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri (or Siri)  and turn it back ON. This forces your phone to request a fresh activation token and redownload the asset models from Apple's servers.

Nick.......I'm going to have to assume the Author is on iOS 27 since they refer to Siri Beta. In iOS 27, there is no switch to turn off Apple Intelligence. Yes, you can turn Siri off, but to my knowledge that does not turn off Apple Intelligence, which is now fully integrated into iOS 17.

What they need to do if they are in a country where Apple Intelligence and Siri AI is approved and they are using a supported language, is remove the VPN completely from their Phone and get rid of the AdGuard which could also be interfering with Siri on their iPhone.

I have no issues with Siri AI.
I have adguard installed.

It’s still important to get rid of all unessential apps and start with a clean sheet,

Also as lg1 and I said, we have no idea where the OP lives and what phone they have.

Imagine someone with a Chinese phone living in the EU with two snake oil Apps installed, gotta start somewhere to debug it.
