Apple Watch Series 11 voice feedback for HR zones not working

Sorry to post again a call for help on a topic a few times presented here but with conversations closed.


-> Cycling Work out with custom heart rate zones.

-> Voice feedback turned on.

-> Apple Watch Series 11, WatchOS 16.6 (23U67).


==> I had my Watch say each heart rate zones transitions our loud. It was working great up until I made an adjustment to my custom heart rate zone. Now the watch is silent. I've changed no other settings.


What went wrong?

Apple confirms that Voice Feedback is controlled under Settings -> Workout ->Voice Feedback, while custom heart-rate zones are configured separately under Settings -> Workout -> Heart Rate Zones. Apple also allows heart-rate alerts to be configured for individual workouts.

Try this:

  • Turn Voice Feedback off, restart the Watch, then turn it back on.
  • Open Workout -> Cycling -> … -> Alerts and check that your heart-rate alert is still configured.
  • Temporarily switch Heart Rate Zones back to Automatic, test a short ride, then switch back to Manual and re-enter your custom zones.

Hello Thanks. I did all that already and this morning, I went for a new bike ride. I was happy as my watched said "Workout pause off", when I started pedaling ... then it went totally mute ... again !


Do you think that threatening that pesky Watch of a prompt encounter with a 10 pound sledgehammer could help?


(I'm a software developper ... and I hate when a piece of code doesn't behave as intended)
