Apple Needs to get this Hacking Problem fixed SOON

Apple Account hacked? This is from a friend, but if all this is accurate Apple needs to fix this problem and soon.

My Apple account was hacked this weekend so I could not access it. I used it to watch Apple TV. Apple support told me to change my password. To input a new password, I had to answer security questions that had been altered by the hacker and written in CHINESE! Apple insisted the company could not fix the problem or delete my account. I was told to simply get a new credit card attached to the account. Now if I want to watch Apple TV, I have to use a different email address and create a new account. To obtain a refund, I have to be able to login to my account in order to receive it. Will A.I. overtake the digital world before the end of the decade? Looks that way.

The most likely thing is that is that you (or your friend) fell for a password stealing scam. A message or popup from a website or an offer for free access or media is disguised as an official Apple log in. Once the scammer has the user name and password then they can compromise the account.

Make sure you have turned on two-factor authorization for the new account and note that Apple will not send you messages or emails to log in to your account.

If you were asked for Security Questions, that means Two Factor Authentication was not turned on. This would only affect older accounts where 2FA was not required, but has been recommended by Apple for the last 11 years now for those user to activate 2FA. Any new account created within the last several years are required to use 2FA and there are no Security Question. You can't turn 2FA off on those account and older accounts would only give you 2 weeks to turn it off after enabling it, and after that it will remain on.

Yes you are vulnerable without using 2FA and relying solely on Security Questions for account access. That it why it should not be done and Apple has recommended to update the account using 2FA.
