Notes & Preview: Scroll does not work on text selection

I noticed that, when using Notes or Preview app, when you select some text with the mouse the scrolling stops working. You cannot use the trackpad or the scroll wheel of the mouse to scroll, which makes selecting long lines of text an hassle.

I was trying to include both Notes and Preview in my workflow but this annoying behaviour prevents me from doing it.

I know I can click at the beggining of the text and shift+click again where I want the selection to end, but scrolling feels more natural

Are there any workarounds or fixes planned for this?
