iPhone 18 Pro Max camera module makes faint click noise when placed on table

iPhone 18 Pro Max - faint click noise from camera module when gently placing it on a table. Anyone else?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought an iPhone 18 Pro Max and noticed a faint mechanical click noise coming from the rear camera area when I gently place it on a table, with the camera side making contact first. I have a case on

There’s the initial sound of the phone touching the surface, followed almost immediately by a separate, quieter click noise - basically “tap… click.” The delay is tiny, but noticeable. I’m placing it down carefully, not dropping it or hitting it.

A few details:

* It happens with the Camera app both closed and open, including when switching between cameras.

* I dont hear any rattle from the camera area when gently shaking the phone.

* Autofocus seems to work correctly on all three rear cameras.

* I’ve tested photos, videos and stabilization, and everything appears to work normally.

Could this simply be movement within the autofocus or stabilization mechanism? Has anyone with an 18 Pro Max or 17 Pro Max noticed the same click specifically when setting the phone down?

If you had yours checked by Apple for this exact issue, what did they say? I’m trying to decide whether it needs an inspection or exchange while I’m still within the return window.
