iMessage auto converts MP3 files to m4a when sending, making the me and recipient unable to listen to the file. It's urgent that this is fixed as I make music and share alot of audio files via iMessage.
MacBook Pro 16″
Haven't updated on my phone yet luckily. Only work around I've found is to send WAV files. They'll play but they auto convert to m4a.
Same issue from iPhone 18 pro. Texting mp3 to recipients (iPhone users)…. They are unable to open mp3to listen and it says m4a on their end. Clearly a new iMessage issue if you are having issue on Mac
I am having the same issue after updating to MacOs Golden Gate and iOS 27. This is crucial to me as a music producer.
