M1 16-inch MacBook Pro boot-loops and is stuck in startup options
2021 M1 16" MacBook Pro is boot-looping.
While my laptop was closed I heard it restart without interacting with it. When I opened the lid I was in startup options. I tried to restart it and it went back to startup options. I tried to start in safe mode with no luck. I also tried to bypass startup options by pressing option+control+shift+power. This brought me to my desktop for 1 second and then shutdown.
Other symptoms:
- It won't start without the AC cable SOMETIMES, other times it will
What I have tried since:
- Ran first aid on the HD with no problems found
- Factory reset it (didn't help)
- Tried to run Apple Diagnostics which resulted in:
- screen went black
- Apple logo appeared with "continue holding for startup options"
- Goes black
- Will not turn on unless I connect the AC cable for literally 1 second
- When connecting the AC cable it causes a brief Orange flash and then a solid orange light
- Went into terminal and ran "ls -lah /Volumes/"Macintosh HD"/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/"
- I didn't see any kernel panic
- Saw several resetcounter lines
- most recent ResetCounter reads:
- Reset count: 0 Boot failure count: 1 Boot faults: btn_rst,finger_reset force_off Boot stage: 0x41
- I tried swapping the Lid Sensor Cable to see if that was faulty. It was not.
- Brought it to someone who attempted revive the firmware in DFU mode, which did not help
At this point I'm all out of ideas and options. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
