Beats Studio Pro drains power from battery even when I use a 3.5 mm cable to play on Mac, and I can still toggle ANC/ Transparency mode by pressing the button. However according to Apple's document, it should play without battery. I've find many people reporting this issue on other forums. Really wish to figure it out.

A 3.5mm audio cable does not supply power. It will only transmit audio signals.
If you want to charge them while using them (or at least preventing draining them), then they need to be connected using a USB-C cable with a supported device as mentioned in the following Apple article:
Charge Beats headphones, earphones, and speakers - Apple Support Note: When connected a supported iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android device using a USB-C cable, your headphones charge while you listen to audio.
But it should work according to Apple.
