iPhone 15 Pro displays false temperature warning after iOS update

My iPhone 15 Pro started showing a heat/temperature warning after the recent iOS update, even though the phone is completely cold and the room temperature is around 23°C.

The phone does not actually feel hot. There is no noticeable heating, but the system shows a heat warning.

If I restart the iPhone, the warning goes away, but the issue can happen again.

Has anyone else experienced this after the iOS update? Could this be a software/temperature sensor issue?

I would like to know whether this can be fixed through a software update or if I should get the iPhone checked by Apple

There are several reports in the community of other members experiencing the same issue. It’s a possible bug, but better to error on the side of caution and get your device properly diagnosed.

Please have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.
