Apple os27 Golden Gate seems like a disaster to me. Multiple crashes (daily) when coming out of sleep mode (logs submitted). No way to just turn off Apple "Intelligence" even though I want absolutely nothing to do with it or want it on my system. I bought this MacBook to be a tool for me to do what I want it to do, not what apple want to use it for and losing more of my already limited hard drive space to this *** and also having multiple crashes in the process is taking the biscuit. M3 MacBook Pro with pro chip. I was hoping for an update by now but nothing yet and am seriously contemplating wiping the drive and rolling back and never updating. Utter betrayal of the customer.

Thanks for the suggestions. Not really looking for workarounds tbh. Machine shouldn't be working (behaving) in this way so it's just a shambolic release (kind of inexcusable when you consider the limited hardware variations that this update has been applied to vs the amount of money/profits/resources that apple have at their disposal.

I will contact Apple directly tomorrow.

Just for information. Claude's reading;

What happened this time

The Mac never went to sleep before this one (the log shows no sleep since it started up). Only the screen had turned off.
When you came back and the screen turned on, WindowServer (the part of macOS that draws everything on screen) froze. After 120 seconds of no response, the watchdog restarted the Mac. That matches the two-minute freeze you saw.

Why that matters

It rules out the background wakes and apsd as the main cause, since there was no sleep at all. Looking at all six panics together:

The common thread is the screen turning off or on. That points firmly at Apple's display driver and graphics system in macOS 27. It's not your apps and not your settings.

Personally I've noticed no show-stoppers in recent or older macOS upgrades. ...yes some rare glitches were fixed after a few months.

So I'd recommend: backup (Time Machine or some 3rd party like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper), reset to factory defaults, restore only user data files.

Post a representative crash report, but if it resembles the ones I have seen, the cause is invariably a hardware fault. Preventing sleep is a workaround, not a solution. Contact Apple for a hands-on evaluation if you have not already done so. Apple will not respond to you directly as a result of submitting those reports.

If your kernel panics are all occurring around Sleep/Wake, consider turning computer sleep off (it does not save that much) and just using Display Sleep.

I posted this User Tip explaining how to disable some parts of Apple Intelligence: Turn off Apple Intelligence in macOS 27 - Apple Community. It's neither perfect nor complete, but so far, that's all you can do.

Please clarify. macOS 27 is an update. Is there a specific problem you were having? Updates generally don't fix problems. They have other purposes. If you have a configuration that was working better, then it would be better to stay there and try to address problems there rather than applying an update and learning a whole new set of problems.

The last decent macOS version was Sequoia. There are many criteria that go into what constitutes "decent" for each person. In terms of overall quality and end-user experience, Ventura was much better and Monterey better still. Most people don't have to upgrade.

That is an understatement.

When you agreed to share those reports, Apple stated that these panic reports will be Anonymous. They could not find you to save your life.
