iOS 26.7 - Joplin App "Network request failed" error - not visible in iOS "Local Network settings"

iOS 26.7 - Joplin App "Network request failed" error.

App: Joplin Mobile: 13.7.6

Sync Target: WebDAV (MEGAsync)

Device: Apple iPhone 17e

I have followed the suggestions provided by MrHoffmann here App is not visible in Local Network setti… - Apple Community

And I have done numerous searches for the same issue, but not found a solution yet.

Even the generic answer provided by Apple here https://support.apple.com/en-ph/102229 does not resolve the issue for me, but merely describes the issue.

I am able to sync successfuly with MEGA Cloud on an older iPad (iOS 15.8.8)

Please help me if you have resolved this issue differently than the suggestions by MrHoffmann.

Joplin App — “Network Request Failed” Error

If you are seeing a “Network request failed” error in the Joplin mobile app, it is important to identify where the problem is occurring before assuming that the iPhone itself is responsible.

In this case:

  • App: Joplin Mobile 13.7.6
  • Sync Target: WebDAV
  • WebDAV provider: MEGAsync
  • Cloud service: MEGA Cloud

None of these services are Apple services. Joplin, WebDAV, MEGAsync, and MEGA Cloud are all third-party services or technologies. Therefore, an error occurring while Joplin is communicating with the WebDAV server does not, by itself, indicate a problem with the iPhone or with iOS.

The “Network request failed” message generally means that Joplin was unable to complete its network request to the configured WebDAV endpoint. Possible causes include:

  • A problem with the Joplin app or its WebDAV implementation.
  • An incorrect WebDAV server URL, username, or password.
  • The WebDAV server being unavailable or refusing the connection.
  • A problem with MEGAsync or its WebDAV functionality.
  • A temporary issue with MEGA Cloud.
  • Network connectivity, DNS, firewall, or server-side configuration issues.
  • A compatibility issue between the current Joplin version and the WebDAV service.

What should you do?

The most appropriate approach is to identify which component is failing rather than immediately troubleshooting the iPhone.

If ordinary internet access is working on the iPhone and other apps can connect to the internet normally, but Joplin alone reports “Network request failed” while synchronising with WebDAV, the issue should primarily be investigated with:

  1. Joplin Support/Developer — particularly if Joplin 13.7.6 is generating the error.
  2. MEGAsync/WebDAV support or documentation — if the WebDAV endpoint is not responding correctly.
  3. MEGA Support — if the underlying MEGA Cloud service or account is involved.

Apple Support would generally be the appropriate contact only if there is evidence that iOS itself is preventing network connectivity, rather than simply because the app is running on an iPhone.

In short, the fact that the error appears on an iPhone does not make it an Apple problem. The communication path is essentially:

Joplin Mobile → WebDAV → MEGAsync → MEGA Cloud

The failure can occur at any point along that chain, so the relevant third-party service or app developer should be contacted based on where the failure is occurring.
