iPhone 18 pro max applying soft skin/facial blurring even when not selected?

iphone 18 pro max is automatically and very noticeably blurring my face texture in post, even though I don't have soft skin turned on. I have my photographic style set to standard, and under texture it's set to standard.

both front and back cameras capture photo with my natural texture, it loads properly, then a second later blurs out all my facial texture and detail. For context, I have freckles and it almost completely blurs them away.

will this be resolved in the next update? Seems like it's applying soft skin even when it's not selected

After you take a photo, you can further refine the Photographic Style values in the Photos app. See Edit the Photographic Style of a photo.

Remove or reset a Photographic Style

You can remove your Photographic Style or set a new one.

Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
Tap Camera, tap Photographic Styles, then select Use Standard or choose a different style.

On models that support Photographic Styles 2 and Photographic Styles 3, tap Customise, then do any of the following:

Adjust the tone and color: Drag your finger on . On iPhone 18 Pro models, tap Palette first.
Control the intensity of the style: Drag the slider.
Change the texture: Tap Texture, then choose a texture such as Soft Skin, Glow, or Film. Drag the slider to adjust the intensity, or choose Standard to apply no texture. Tap Grain to add film grain to any texture. (Available on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max).
