Unable to attach camera-taken photos after updating to iOS 27

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing an issue on my iPhone 16 Pro after updating to iOS 27.

I am unable to attach or send photos that were taken using the native iOS Camera app.

Issue

Photos taken using the iOS Camera app cannot be attached or sent.
Screenshots can be attached and sent without any issues.
Images downloaded or saved from other sources can also be attached and sent normally.
Taking a new photo directly using the WhatsApp camera works correctly.
In WhatsApp, camera-taken photos remain stuck on “Preparing Media” with the loading indicator and never proceed.
In Messenger , Instagram and Viber, the photos remain stuck in “Sending” and are never delivered.

The issue appears to be specifically related to photos captured using the native iOS Camera app, rather than image attachments in general.

The affected photos can be viewed normally in the Photos app, but when I attempt to attach them to another application, the media preparation/upload process does not complete.

This issue started after updating to iOS 27. I did not experience this behavior before the update.

Device: iPhone 16 Pro

iOS: iOS 27

Affected media: Photos taken using the native Camera app

Affected applications: WhatsApp, Messenger, Viber Instagram…

Has anyone else experienced this issue after updating to iOS 27?

If so, have you found a workaround or solution?

Update: A force restart fixed the issue, and I can now attach and send camera-taken photos normally across all affected apps.

Try a force restart. It fixed the issue for me:

1.Quickly press and release Volume Up.

2.Quickly press and release Volume Down.

3.Press and hold the Side button.

4.Keep holding until the Apple logo appears, then release it.

After the restart, I was able to attach and send camera-taken photos normally again.

Having the same issue with iphone 16 pro! Only workaround I’ve found is that I’m still able to send photos from the file app after exporting original but definitely a bug that needs to be fixed.
