Pages compatable for version 14.8.9

Being able to download an older version of the software through the App Store requires having previously gotten it through your Apple Account and that the developer has left it available. If you aren't able to use this method, try a product such as LibreOffice instead.

The last compatible version of Pages for macOS Sonoma 14.8.9 is Pages v14.5. If you have never installed Pages from the Mac App Store since Nov 2013, then you cannot get any version of Pages for Sonoma now, and either need to resort to Pages for iCloud, or Niel's LibreOffice suggestion. The latter can actually open simple Pages documents that can be saved as .odt or Word .docx documents.

If you have installed Pages for Mac from the Mac App Store since November 2013, then you can follow these steps to get Pages v14.5 onto Sonoma:

1. Launch the Mac App Store and sign in with the same Apple ID as you used previously to install Pages.
2. Press cmd+0 (zero) to open the Purchases panel.
3. If Pages appears there, it will have some indication that it can be downloaded and installed. Click that.
4. You may receive one or more dialogs. Do not click Cancel, and the last dialog will ask you if you want to install the last compatible version of Pages for macOS Sonoma. You know that answer.
