Will Apple ever make a normal mouse?

The Magic Mouse does not work for work. We need a Mouse Pro. Will Apple ever make a normal mouse? Something like a Logitech G502 Mouse but with Apple materials, logo etc. I need a real left and right button and real wheel with button. I feel so weird having glowing Gs on my desk but all Apple computers.

Mac Studio, macOS 26.6

This the crux of the matter. Money talks and b.s. walks. And design philosophy as well. From day one Apple has been adamant about single button mice. To this day you have to turn on Secondary Click to get the left/right click. Default is OFF and ⌃control click is preferred (by Apple anyway).

This has been brought up what I would call innumerable times.

Apple's credo since the beginning has been, "Build a computer that is so simple, a child could quickly figure out how to use it."

Despite the fact this is a greatly outdated model, due to the fact children are taught how to use computers as a normal part of grade school curriculum, Apple still largely sticks to this design goal.

You don't see it anymore, but all the way through at least OS 9, Macs came with the GUI set to Simple Finder. This setting pared the GUI down to the most commonly used menu actions to make it less cluttered to a new user. This followed to the mouse. When there's only one button, you can't press the wrong one.

But that, too, is a long outdated design. Young children, even pre-school, understand how to use a multi-button mouse. So you do have to wonder why Apple keeps producing such simplistic, and at times, just downright weird mice. I have never found any later Apple mouse intuitive or easy to use. I stick with simple, three button Logitech mice. Left and right buttons, with a scroll wheel button I assign as a double click.

I get what you're trying to achieve, but it just isn't always possible.

Sometime back, a user here insisted they would not let anything not made or created by Apple (hardware or software) anywhere near their Apple gear.

Being in prepress myself, I questioned how they thought I'd get any real work done without Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or Quark XPress, and many other apps Apple has no competitor for. This person, not kidding, said I was risking my Mac's security by using third party software, no matter who made it.

That of course is just nuts. Third party software is what drives the computer industry. Like the instance of the first killer app for the then new IBM PC. Without such an app, a computer was an expensive toy that didn't really do much. That app was VisiCalc. They demoed it for a group of accountants. When they were done, the audience wasn't just thrilled, their hands were visibly shaking as they thrust out their credit cards to buy a copy. As one person said, "What normally takes me a week to do my hand, I can do in a couple of hours!"

For me, without Photoshop (or similar image editing app), my job wouldn't have been possible. Preview and Photos couldn't, and still can't do 1% of what PS does. Apple now sells Pixelmator Pro, but even that is third party software Apple bought. And while nice, it's still leagues behind PS.

As IdrisSeabright said, use what does the work in the best and most efficient manner. The name on the product is secondary.

Yes if kids can figure out a keyboard they for sure can figure out a mouse with 3 buttons and a wheel. Game controllers have more buttons than that and they have zero problems with that. I honestly would just love a proper Apple Mouse. I feel like maybe it will happen someday but obviously I will not hold my breath. With no visible logos on the front of my Macs, they honestly look like Logitech Computers with a Sony game controller.... They should also make a game controller but I will not hold my breath again.

I always go for the logo when a company makes good products. I own all Dewalt tools... I used to own all Sony electronics prior to Apple erasing them for the most part. I am very brand loyal and want what I want I guess. I don't even like/use 3rd party cables for instance....I would like a complete computer including mouse and game controller from one company. Kinda like I only buy Nintendo hardware from Nintendo. The 3rd party stuff is just lacking usually and less durable. Logitech does make great mice but I don't own a Logitech computer. If the Nintendo controller was just the joy cons for instance, I wouldn't be happy. The pro controller is way better but thankfully they make that. Magic Mouse just isnt the mouse for me or most. I just want a Pro version like so many others. It would be so easy for Apple to do and it could still look amazing and work amazingly. They can co-exist. Throw on a glowing Apple logo on it and now it will look like I am using something made by Apple.

Not sure why it's weird. If a company makes great products then why not keep supporting them. Seems to be the most natural thing in the world to me.

But if they do not make a product that I need at the price I want to pay, I happily buy it from some other company and do not worry about what it looks like.
