iPhone 15 Pro Max shows false temperature warning after iOS 27 update

Device: iPhone 15 Pro Max (iPhone16,2), iOS 27.0.1 (24A446)

Problem: A temperature warning appears randomly while the phone is cool to the touch. The phone is not charging, not in the sun, and not under heavy use when it happens.

Timeline:

- It started right after I updated to iOS 27.0 (24A437). The phone never showed this warning before the update.

- I updated to iOS 27.0.1 (24A446) on 28 Sep 2026. The problem is still there.

What I found in Analytics Data (Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data):

- Several apps were killed with code 0xC00010FF and "Thermal State: critical", even when the phone was idle. Example: Google app, 25 Sep 2026 05:53 (UTC+5), app suspended in the background, "Thermal Sensors: 0".

- Other examples: Snapchat 24 Sep 22:29, Instagram 25 Sep 00:57, Instagram 26 Sep 19:01.

- No panic-full logs and no unexpected restarts.

- Battery health is 99%, 411 cycles.

This looks like a false temperature reading, either from a sensor or from iOS 27. Please run remote diagnostics on the thermal sensors and battery and tell me whether this is hardware or software.

I have the full analytics log files and can share them if needed.

Hey everyone. So I’ve been having the same issue. And I managed to fix it. I found a solution that actually works. Apparently after the update, because iPhone puts all its power into indexing for some stupid reason, it doesn’t care that much about its sensors and trusts them. It thereafter picks up on pseudo warnings from the sensors(temp sensor in this case).

easy fix: settings-> general -> reset -> all settings

it will remove some stuff like bank cards from apple wallet and it’s also gonna prompt you to give notifications and location access for apps. But hey. Problem solved.

Hey, I'm having this same issue with an iPhone 15, I just spoke with Apple's official support team.

They ran a remote diagnostic on my iPhone 15 and found all of the abnormal temperature warnings, confirming, based on the reported data, that there is indeed a problem with this update, and that Apple has already created an issue ticket that is being addressed by the engineering team. Most likely, a new update will be released to fix this problem.

Let's hope for the best, quickly.

All the best.
