Is AI trustable when it comes to device care?

Hey! Asking a question about AI. I'm not sure if Gemini, ChatGPT, or any other AI is reliable when it comes to device care. Should I trust it? Please, don't make a fool of me, it's my first time on these forums 😅

There is some great information on the internet that is directly applicable, current, and posted by authoritative sources.

There is also a lot of information on the internet posted by people who are completely clueless. There is a lot of information posted on the internet that has not been updated to modern times, devices, or current operating systems.

AI does not KNOW anything. AI has no judgement or reasonableness to apply. What it can do is produce an AVERAGE of all the information it has available, without prioritizing authoritative sources, recent sources, or applicable sources. And if it has no firm answer, it is known to hallucinate a reasonable-looking response.

Trust the care of your device to THAT?

¿Are you crazy?

Yes, we realize it's an honest question. You are getting equally honest answers.

For all the wheezing, red-faced hype it's getting, AI is not something to trust for much of anything.

Just yesterday (and this is just one of many attempts over a period of months), I asked how to do something on my iPhone. And I specifically stated an iPhone 14 Pro. The answer AI gave sounded logical and well thought out. Except for the part where it said to find a setting. There was no such setting. Even doing a direct search on the phone for the last submenu AI spat out turned up nothing. It doesn't exist.

The fact that you asked indicates that you are not a fool. There are good implementations/uses of AI and not so good implementations/uses of AI. I think that AI is not sufficiently reliable to "trust it". Using AI as another data point is good if you have enough knowledge on the subject to know the value/accuracy of the information provided by AI.
