What did macos 27.0.1 actually solve? 😅

Never pressed the button "Update" faster than today, when I updated to 27.0.1.

Sad truth is, majority of the problems with mission control are still there, if not worse. Anyone experiencing the same?

There have been many issues reported with Mission Control and Spaces on macOS 27 Golden Gate, especially regarding the way Full Screen apps and app switching are handled. Some have been resolved by identifying and removing incompatible 3rd party extensions, others are bona fide bugs. The minor point update, macOS 27.0.1, did not appear to address the more significant issues.

See if the problem is present when you boot in safe mode. That process performs some system cleanup and clears caches, and also disables 3rd party extensions that may cause problems.

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

If that does not correct the issue, test in a new user account. A newly-created user account will have all settings at default, and if the issue does not occur in that new account then it provides guidance on what may need to be changed to correct the issue.

Add a user or group on Mac - Apple Support

Once the testing is complete, the new account can easily be deleted.

Delete a user or group on Mac – Apple Support

Those steps will help to isolate the problem.

It might help to download and run EtreCheck, written by a long-time forum member. The free version is fine. Post the full report using the Additional Text button. No personal information is revealed.

If the issue persists in safe mode and a new user account, that suggests that it's a bug that Apple needs to address. Bugs can be reported to Apple here:

Feedback - macOS - Apple

Reporting issues like this to Apple is the only way to get them fixed. They do prioritize bugs based on frequency of reports, so the more people who report it, the faster it will be addressed.

Personally, Mission Control is working fine for my use cases on my 16" M4 Pro MBP running 27.0.1. I have many Spaces and open windows, but I don't use full screen apps and I don't have my apps grouped, both of which are associated with reported issues.

I did notice one fix in 27.0.1 along these lines, but only a partial fix, for App Expose (Force Click on an app icon int he Dock). In Tahoe, doing so shows active windows of that app (across all Spaces) as large Mission Control-style panes and minimized windows of that app as small thumbnails along the bottom. I presume that is the expected behavior. On 27.0, Force Clicking on a Dock app icon did nothing, and in 27.0.1 it shows the large panes for active windows of the app, but minimized still windows do not show up. Baby steps...

Yeah, I was going to say, it sure took up that 60 GBs of disk space that was just sitting empty and unused. I have all the AI and SIRI features off, no personal files on my 250 GB MacBook, and went from 200 GB to 141 GB. Nothing to show for it, and no way to reclaim it.

I'm not sure why this reply is addressed to me. I didn't say I had any problems with the recent update.

This is what I do, I’ll stay on version 26 across all Apple operating systems until Apple reaches Apple software versions 27.5 or 27.6, Updating when an update is first released is risky in my opinions, you really risk bugs, issues and problems that were not in v26 in most cases.
If I’m wrong, please do give your opinions.

Yes, you are dead wrong. Go look at the so-called stable version of Tahoe and you will see the same users reporting the same issues. What you consider trouble free someone else considers unusable. How can that be?

Sep 30, 2026 11:19 AM in response to lkrupp

Same Issues on Tahoe as Golden gate? Sequoia is literally the only stable OS version on MY M1 Air, I experience bugs on macOS Tahoe or later.

You’re completely misunderstanding what I’m saying, I’m definitely not claiming that version 26 is completely trouble-free, or that waiting until 27.5/27.6 guarantees that there will be no problems.

My point is that I personally prefer to stay on a more stable version for a while rather than install a brand-new major release on day one, Early releases can introduce new bugs, compatibility issues, or changes that weren’t in the previous version. By waiting for several point releases, I’m giving Apple more time to identify and fix those issues

It’s obvious that a stable version like Tahoe can have problems, and what is unusable for one person may work perfectly for another.

So I’m not saying “older = bug-free.” I’m saying “I’d rather wait until the new version has had more time in the real world before I move to it”

I wish I had never updated. I usually don't experience a lot of issues with updates but this one has been extremely frustrating. I was hopeful 27.01 would fix my issues, but they actually seem worse. I've lost all of my shortcut keys, mouse issues and the most fun one is the space bar will randomly jump to select something from time to time while typing in mail. The only way is to close the current email and start all over. Someone please tell me there is a fiz coming soon!

That is the same answer Gemini and Claude gave me, but I still rather hear important advice from a human.

AI bases its answers on what other users posted. It doesn’t have any insight of its own. And in general people who have problems comment on them, but people who have no problems don’t post “hey, everything is working great”. So AI only sees the negative comments. The same with Google search.

Keep in mind that around a million (not an exaggeration) public beta testers, invited AppleSeed testers (I’m one), and developers have been using iOS 27 since June. (July for public), so it is unlikely that there are any serious issues that haven’t been resolved. There were some issues early on, which is why there were a couple of dozen beta releases, and the official version wasn’t released until all of the important ones were resolved.

So if you are having an issue it is most likely that they are with your device, not the update.

Wow, so 7 people out of hundreds of millions have an issue with RCS. 7 is hardly widespread. even if it was 700 that would not fit the definition of widespread.

On your iPhone go to Settings/Apps/Messages/Text Message Forwarding; is your Mac enabled? If it is, turn it off, then back on.

And do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN, then restart your device. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. Updates sometimes "break" VPN, and it needs to be removed. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN, but probably shouldn't.

You should back up your stuff to an external storage device using Time Machine, Now, I’m not sure if the backup on the newer version will be restored on an older version of macOS, I have tried it, I have backed up my Mac on Tahoe, and downgraded it to sequoia but failed to restore the backup on sequoia, that’s what I’ll tell you, Thankfully, I already backed up my stuff on my Mac before I updated, I don’t know how exactly someone would move their stuff, I was recommended migration assistant, you could find the download command to input in terminal to download the installer for the specific macOS version you want, see How to download and install macOS – Apple Support (UK)

You can also use the installers from the App Store.

If so, I really have no idea what is going on. How will a new MacBook, so new it still has 99% battery health, be lagging on an OS? Come on, lets be realistic, I have about 400GB free SSD, and I use a little over 16 GB of RAM of 24. What is going on?

I have no idea what’s wrong with your Mac. I have generally found that it is third-party crapware users install

if you think you’re there is something wrong with your installation of Golden Gate, you can use recovery to reinstall it and see if that cleans anything up.
