Can I import Shared Album photos directly into iMovie

I have a shared album that I would like to use as the content for an iMovie project. It appears that I cannot import directly from the shared album into iMovie(???)

Do I have to import to my personal library first? Is there an easier workaround? ASm I misunderstadbning something here?
