YouTube and macOS 27:

A. Backing Up before Updating:

Updates can fix bugs and provide new features. But, before you do so, I recommend creating a Time Machine Backup of your Mac. That way, you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong, afterwards.

B. Restoring from a Prior Backup:

Did you create a Time Machine Backup just prior to the upgrade? If so, restore from it, backing up before the restoration. If you never created one, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always create one prior to making any major changes to your Mac (i.e. Software and Update installations).

C. Report this Bug to Apple:

Do your Part: Inform Apple of your feedback of this issue. Include how you’ve troubleshot this, and your results. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive from its users, the more likely they will know what needs to be fixed in macOS releases versions to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "Software/Firmware Update" for the "Feedback Area"
  4. Comment: that this all occurred after installing an update, and how you have troubleshot this this far. Include the URL of this thread.
  5. Proceed from there as necessar

Upgrading a MacBook Air

There is no such model, ad of this thread called "Mac air". Assuming you mean "MacBook Air", you need to have a compatible Mac. The only-compatible 2020 MacBook Air model compile with macOS27 (and thereafter) is MacBook Air (M1, 2020). So, verify that you have this chip. macOS 27 Golden Gate is compatible with these computers - Apple Support

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: About This Mac...
  3. View: the Chip

Apple released two MacBook Airs in 2020:

  • MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020) – An Intel-based model that cannot run anything later than macOS 15.* (Sequoia).
  • MacBook Air (M1, 2020) – An Apple-Silicon-based model that can run anything from macOS 11.* (Big Sur) to macOS 27.* (Golden Gate) (and possibly versions yet to be released).
