How do I put get the writing tools menu options back?

How do I get the writing tools menu options back?

I am using Pages Version 15.4 (7051.0.79), Golden Gate 27.0.1 (26A434), and the Siri Beta, on my M1.

Why do I have to activate Siri to use the writing tools now, like proofread and rewrite as Professional, Concise, Friendly? This is so irritating!

It used to be a simple command like spell check. Now having to go through Siri adds steps!

Please put the writing tools back! I shouldn't have to tell Siri to execute what was a common command in my workflow.

It is like having to ask your Mom to cut your steak so you can eat it when you are an adult. It is irritating, embarrassing and insulting.

Put the menu and context menu options back!

Stan

P.S. This goes for the writing tools in Safari!

I don't have Siri activated in macOS 27.0.1. On the Pages v15.4 Edit menu, there is Writing Tools that leads to a sub-menu offering to Show Writing Tools, or for instance, directly pick Proofread. This will operate on the entire opened Pages document, or just on selected text within it.

The result is a dialog that counts the suggestions, and then you click on the arrow buttons on that widget to have it show you the individual explanation for that Proofread correction. One can also undo individual corrections.

The same Edit menu > Writing Tools menu item is also in Safari 27.0.1.

Nothing I can do about Siri beta collateral damage to existing application menus. Beta means expect problems.

You might send direct feedback to the Pages product team from the application menu. They won't see your post here. You won't be able to send along those images, but explain that Siri Beta removes Writing Tools menu item in Pages v15.4. Report it as a bug.

You sort of missed my whole point.

Your first sentence, "How do I get the writing tools menu options back?" was the point, wasn't it?

I DID have the Siri beta turned on and Apple removed an entire Menu category.

There is no loss of Writing Tools on the Pages or Safari Edit menu, regardless of Siri being on or off. I tested with Siri on and off and there was no change. Beta means it may not work as expected. Siri couldn't remove menu items that are compiled into applications, anyway.

I should not have to go through Siri in order to access a menu command that I am accustomed to executing with mouse and or keyboard commands (using accessibility keyboard commands which I sometimes use).

I use a mouse for Pages interaction, and have no need to test or use an Accessibility keyboard alternative, or even Siri for that matter.

I do not ask Siri to copy/paste.

How did copy/paste get into this discussion?

With Siri Classic turned on.

With Siri Beta turned on.

With Siri Turned Off

My point is, there is an established expectation of where and how the command should work for previous versions.

This is NOT of the application compiling issue. This is something that is determined by the state of Siri on a users machine. How is the user supposed to know, what has happened to a command that has been there consistently in the past few versions.

Good for you. Some of us have accessibility concerns and needs.
