Apple Pay is a technology used to help protect your privacy and keep your credit and debit card transactions secure. Apple Pay does not require an age or identity verification to use the service. You’re confusing Apple Pay with Apple Cash, probably.

Federal banking regulations require banks to identify their customers. Collectively these regulations are called “Know Your Customers” laws. There is no workaround. If you do not have a state issued drivers license or identification card, you’ll need to obtain one.

Verify your identity for Apple Card or Apple Cash - Apple Support

If you don't have the information that you need to verify your identity

  • If your identity can't be verified, you won't be able to use all of the features of Apple Cash, including sending and receiving money and adding money to your Apple Cash balance.
  • You'll still be able to use the money in your Apple Cash account to make purchases with Apple Pay in stores, in apps, and on the web, and you can transfer money to your bank.

If you need help, contact an Apple Cash Specialist at Green Dot Bank.
