Issues with messages taking up too much storage

messages are taking up too much storage despite me deleting attachments and conversations, I have an IPhone 16 and im on iOS 26.6. Whenever I open the “other” tab it doesn’t show anything at all, I also don’t have messages connected to the cloud. What can I do?
