Unable to delete large attachments in Messages to free up storage

Deleting large attachments question:

My settings say I currently have 8.46GB of large attachments. I have gone through and manually deleted large attachments in the recommendations section according to their size. My actual conversation messages have only 627.1MB. The large attachment section is not giving me the remaining photos because what is currently in that section does not equal 8.46GB. Where are the rest of the photos located so that my storage can be freed up? I have also gone through gifs, pdfs, audio files etc. and gotten rid of those. I have also tried restarting my phone after deleting with no luck.

Also, I go to various conversations in messages to manually delete photos and when I delete them in the photo section, they come right back.
