airdrop issue after 27.0

I've checked everything I can find on my iPhone 15 pro max with 27.0 update to find out why the airdrop stopped working and I can't get it to work. I'm trying to airdrop a picture from my phone to my 2018 Mac mini Sequoia 15.7.9 which worked seamlessly before the update. I've gone to several places to find out if there was new settings I have to make and all that I've found is correct for my phone to airdrop. Has anyone else had or have this same issue and is there a fix?

Try with Everyone for 10 Mins settings:

First, check your Screen Time restrictions on your iPhone.

Screen Time

Settings > Screen Time > Content and Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps > AirDrop [Enable]

Watch the GIF below

If you have Contacts Only turned On then please add the Apple ID of the sending device to your list of contacts on the receiving device. See the pic at the bottom of this post for better clarity

Probably you have "Receiving Off" ticked. Enable Contacts Only, See the pics below

iPhone

iPad

Macbook

Before you begin

  • Make sure that the person you're sending to is nearby and within Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range.
  • Check that you and the person you're sending to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. If either of you have Personal Hotspot on, turn it off.
  • Check if the person you're sending to has their AirDrop set to receive from Contacts Only. If they do, and you’re in their Contacts, they need to have your email address or mobile number in your contact card for AirDrop to work.
  • If you're not in their Contacts, have them set their AirDrop receiving setting to Everyone in order to receive the file.

You can put your AirDrop receiving setting to Contacts Only or Receiving Off at any time to control who can see your device and send you content in AirDrop.

Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. iOS 27 or later may have coincided with what you are experiencing, but that does not mean the issue was triggered by iOS. Coincidence in timing is not, by itself, evidence of causation.

If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook.

The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not a general, system-wide problem with iOS 27 or later, but rather something specific to the individual device, its configuration, installed apps, settings, hardware, or another interacting factor.

In short: iOS 27 or later may be a coincidence in timing, but there is no basis to conclude that iOS itself triggered the problem simply because the issue appeared after the update.
