GarageBand voice recordings have an unwanted echo on Mac Studio

Greetings,

I have used Garage Band for years without problem. In the last several months, when I make voice recordings, there is an unwanted echo. The ambience and reverb are off. I have tried both standard and voice isolation modes. The settings show that my microphone is the only one working. My phone is out of the room and the screen mic I believe is off. Feedback Protection is checked and monitoring is off. Any help would be appreciated.
