iPad names incorrect in MIDI Network Setup RTP/Wifi session
MIDI Network Setup - names are incorrect in RTP/Wifi session.
I have a few iPads that I connect wirelessly to my Mac to use with the Songbook+ app for MIDI Control (Ableton). Even before I start Ableton, I see strange names in the MIDI Network Setup window. In the the Sessions and Directories panel, one ipad shows up with its correct name ("Joe_iPad") while the other shows up with a generic ("iPad" instead of "Joe_iPad2"). Once connected, they show up on the Connected Peers panel with the same names. However, on the Sessions and Directories panel I now see "iPad" and "iPad(2)".
I have tried multiple things all with the same result.
- different names with and without spaces, with and without "_" or "'"
- rebooting all devices
- killing the cache (bash-3.2$ sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder)
- creating new network sessions
- rebooting routers
- switching to a 5GHz only router
In my band environment we have 6 ipads and all show the name but Joe_iPad2 and one of the other guy's 8th gen ipad. When connected I see iPad, iPad(1), ... iPad(5), which makes things very confusing.
How do I get correct names to show up consistently????
