Wind arrow in the Weather widget point away from the wind

Why does the wind arrow in the Weather widget point away from the wind? Normal convention has the vane pointing into the wind as it represents a physical wind vane.

You are assuming real-time weather data is being fed to the weather app when in reality, there is a substantial delay. The wind direction is at the reporting station which may be some distance from your location and could be variable.

I just looked at the National Weather Service page for my location and it is currently 4:46 pm. Yet, the NWS last site update occurred over an hour ago. If I want to know the wind direction, I will need to walk out on the deck to be certain.
