iPhone SE 3rd Gen And iOS 27.0.1

I don't remember exactly when I updated my iPhone SE 3rd Generation; but it now has version 27.0.1, which is the most current OS; but does it have complete compatibility? In my car I have not had connectivity; so I could not stream my music apps. Likewise, on Chrome, Google and Safari not all images download. My weather app did not connect. Did my update upset some Settings; or is there a compatibility problem where I should roll this OS back to an earlier version?

Major software updates like iOS 27 can occasionally disrupt system caches, network leases, or web data handling, but they rarely cause permanent hardware or software incompatibility on a supported device like the iPhone SE (3rd generation).

The issues you are experiencing (car connectivity loss, image loading failures across browsers, and network failure in the Weather app) typically stem from corrupted network configurations or local cache errors rather than a fundamental OS flaw requiring a rollback.

Try these troubleshooting steps in order to resolve the connectivity and loading problems:

1. Reset Network Settings

Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This clears out corrupted Wi-Fi networks, cellular configurations, and Bluetooth pairings (including your car connection). Your phone will restart.

Verification: Reconnect to your car's Bluetooth/CarPlay and open the Weather app over cellular or Wi-Fi to confirm data loads properly.

2. Clear Browser Website Data

For Safari, go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. For Chrome, open the Chrome app, tap the three dots or menu icon, go to Settings > Privacy > Clear Browsing Data, and select cached images and files.

Verification: Reload a website that previously failed to display images to ensure they now render correctly.

3. Perform a Forced Restart

Quickly press and release the Volume Up button, quickly press and release the Volume Down button, then press and hold the Side (Power) button until the Apple logo appears.

Verification: Check if background system services resume normal operation.

Thanks. I'll look into that.

I had to do a Search to find this thread. It did not appear after I logged in. The options in my Apple account did not bring it up. This time a Search did not bring it up. I had to go through my Safari browser history to find the thread. Somebody monitoring this thread doesn't like one of the posts. My previous addition to this thread posted even though it said at the bottom that I couldn't post now. Strange! This one acted that way too.

A Network Reset under Settings, General Tab fixed it. The dashboard updates were set to Automatic. On the iPhone I have no Timer.

It is not a universal issue.

We have two SE 2nd Gen (2020), less capable than your SE 3rd, that have no issues with 27.0.1. Of issues you mention, we have no issues with Safari or Music. We do not allow Google in the house (too nosey), and neither vehicle has CarPlay, so I cannot test that. Weahter app is fine. We've had zero failure-to-connect errors. AirDrop works fine as do Mrs AJ's bluetooth hearing aids.

You did not mention it but I also tested Airplay to our Apple TV 4K. Works fine from SE 2020 and 27.0.1.

The types of issues you have described can be attributed to unneeded aftermarket (and scammy) "security" apps. The "New Curse on the Apple Block" today? Client-side VPNs† that are overhyped in TV and internet ads. They cause a litany of issue in iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Anything like that installed? If so, check your feet for wounds.

If you feet are not wounded and you have an otherwise clean system (no dungware), the next step given your descriptions is your cellular carrier.

† — "client-side" VPNs are those NOT issued to you by an employer to allow remote access to company servers. They are instead the ones in adverts using fear marketing.

Dear tightpurchaser,
Your iPhone SE (3rd Gen) has old hardware which is not able to keep up with the high frequency update with lots of graphics and settings.
Also, u can’t downgrade iOS lest u want to restore ur iPhone and lose all ur locally stored data (not iCloud).

Please stop posting your nonsense, restoring the phone will not downgrade the operating system. Your first comment makes no sense either

@LD150, you say you have no issues with iOS27.0.1. on your SE3. Can you try to run the Timer with the Phone Locked (from the Control Center). Does the alarm play a sound when the timer is done? It doesn't work for me although the ringer animation does show and it does sound if the phone is unlocked.

Not something I ever do but yes it sounds with Radar tone.

I was answering the question about performance. But if we are talking bugs, the only one I have found is that if I power the phone right down, then when powered up sometimes it is in silent mode even though the switch is in ring mode. It happens about half of the time, although I only power off my spare phone.

As has been the case lately, my Apple Account does not show my threads upon login. I had to Search my user ID to come back to this thread. Well, music streaming is no longer a problem; but making calls is. I dealt with my provider on this. When I call, I can hear the other party; but they cannot hear me. My provider changed the SIM card, which did not correct the problem. Before I follow their advice, since they think I have a hardware problem, to go to a repair shop, someone drew my attention to the mute button. The button was down; so I turned it off. Still, my parties cannot hear me when I call them. Could this mute mode be stuck? And is there any way to free it before taking this phone for repair?

I expected my latest post to appear here; but it got on the previous page. That is the one about low-volume calls at my recipient's end and a possible stuck mute button. I hope enough members can find it.

The clowns in Cupertino force you to view your posts by rank instead of chronologically.

Tap your avatar, tap Preferences, Tap Default Thread Sort, Choose Newest ir Oldest fir chronological logical order.

I went back to the original post at the beginning to implement the three steps even though I already did a Reset Network Settings. Since I had a new SIM card, I figured it wouldn't hurt to go through these steps again. my iOS is 27.0.1. The last step, Forced Restart, did not work as described. Instead of the Apple logo, the typical slide button came up. All I have to do now is telephone somebody to see if they can hear me. If they can't, then I will have to take it to a repair store.
