Safari Bookmarks menu not working on Mac

I am using Safari 27.0.1 on a Mac Neo. I have a very large number of bookmarks in various folders. I was able to use the Bookmarks menu to access any of these saved bookmarks. Yesterday that menu stopped working. All my bookmarks are still there, but I have to use the sidebar menu to get to them. Not very efficient. Here is what my Bookmarks Menu looks like now. I have tried some of the recommendations (like turning Safari iCloud on/off, force quitting Safari). Nothing has worked. Please help!!
