Safari slow to close in macOS 27

Safari takes seconds to close in MacOS 27 ... why? Before "upgrading" (?) to MacOS 27, Safari closed immediately after clicking the red dot in the top left corner of the window. Now, in MacOS 27 there is a noticeable delay of 3-4 seconds. The only thing to have changed on my M3 MacBook Air and M1 iMac is the change from MacOS 26 to MacOS 27.
