How to actually use the Apple Card

How do I use my Apple Card? I have it downloaded but can't find anything helpful to get me started. I also have the physical card but it seems it will only work with a swipe machine. The chip cannot be read due to the titanium. My phone is an iPhone X.

Do you know what Apple Pay is and how to use it? Like any other credit/debit card that is in your Wallet app you can tap-to-pay at any terminal that supports NFC tap-to-pay. You don’t even need a physical card unless you’re wanting to pay a merchant who doesn’t accept NFC. These days every merchant and their cousins use NFC, even Walmart does now.

Walmart is now accepting ApplePay and Tap-to-Pay ???
If so, I guess they finally accepted that a privacy-intrusive, one-off “WalMartPay” wasn’t such a great idea.

I read one article that estimated they lost over $1 billion in sales a year in 2025. The articles were speculation because no study was cited. But I know I haven’t shopped at Walmart in the last 7+ years because they didn’t accept Apple Pay. I’m sure I’m not the only one that was displeased by their poor customer experience.

Indeed.

Their lack of ApplePay definitely “put me off” as well.

Most of my “nickel and dime” experiences were almost exclusively in conjunction with EV charging. (Electrify America co-locates at many Walmarts)

I also recall a Walmart exec once being quoted as stating that because ApplePay was “good” for Mastercard … that alone was sufficient reason for them to NOT accept it.
