How to handle unsigned apps rated as major concern by EtreCheck?

LogTransport2.app is an unsigned app. It is part of Adobe installation. Is it good, bad. It dates to 20210. Etrecheck rated it a major concern.

I have three other unsigned apps rated major concern. They are part of two apps I use and value.

Should I ignore unsigned apps or do more investigation.

If you recognize them as being part of a known app, then just ignore them.

This logic dates back from when I thought that malware might attempt to impersonate legitimate apps. For whatever reason, that never happened.

In hindsight, adding all of that security logic to EtreCheck was a bad idea. It will be going away in the next major version, which is currently under development and due to be released "real soon now".

Adobe and Epson have both been slow to update some of their apps and subroutines to Universal or Apple Silicon only. Basically, dragging their heels until they have no choice late next year when macOS 28 will not run any Intel only apps.

"Major concern" in this case may simply be they will stop working in about a year, if you upgrade to macOS 28. Unsigned apps may also die at that point. Apple has been slowly working that requirement into the OS. From no notice at all about an unsigned app, to having to allow them in the Privacy & Security settings, to (unknown exactly when) unsigned apps will not be allowed at all.
