No sound of incoming calls after upgrade to iOS27.0.1 (SE 2022)

I have just upgraded my SE 2022 to iOS27.0.1. However, when getting incoming calls, there is no sound at all. The phone receives the call alright, but there is just no sound. Has anybody experienced the same thing and may have a solution to the problem?

I had the same issue after upgrading my SE2022 from iOS 26 to 27.

And several other sound issues, reported by other members in this community, who blamed the upgrade.

And an internet search results in many similar complaints after upgrade, so it definitely is not a coincidence.

My solution was to switch off the physical switch at the side of the phone and switch it on again.

If you have a hearing or sound issue on your device then please try some of these processes to set it right

  1. If you have a distorted sound issue on your iPhone --> If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad
  2. If you are not able to hear the other person, click this...>If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't ...
  3. If you only hear through speakerphone mode --> If your iPhone is stuck in headphone mode - Apple Support
  4. If the other person is not able to listen to you then please click this to identify the issue --> If the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch aren't ...

If the above options do not mitigate the issues then Contact your carrier and then Contact Apple Support

There are several potential reasons for distorted voice calls on an iPhone. Here are some common factors that can contribute to this issue:

  1. A weak or unstable cellular network signal can result in voice call distortion. If the signal strength is low, the audio quality may suffer, leading to distortion, dropouts, or static during calls.
  2. High network traffic or congestion can affect voice call quality. When there are too many users trying to access the network simultaneously, it can result in degraded call quality or distortion.
  3. It's recommended to keep your iPhone's software up to date and regularly check for app updates.
  4. If you are using a Bluetooth headset or speakerphone during calls, interference or compatibility issues can lead to distorted audio. Try disconnecting any connected Bluetooth devices and check if the voice quality improves.
  5. Voice call distortion can also be attributed to problems on the network provider's end. Temporary network outages, infrastructure issues, or maintenance work can affect call quality in specific areas or during certain times.

If you're experiencing persistent voice call distortion on your iPhone, it's recommended to troubleshoot the problem by following these steps:

  1. Check your network signal strength and switch to a different location if possible to see if the issue persists.
  2. Restart your iPhone to refresh the software and temporary settings.
  3. Disable any Bluetooth devices connected to your iPhone during calls and check if the distortion improves.
  4. Verify that your iPhone's software is up to date and install any available updates.
  5. Contact your network provider to inquire about any known issues in your area.
  6. If the problem persists, consider contacting or visiting an Apple authorized service center to diagnose and address any hardware-related problems.

Expressing or conveying auditory experiences effectively through these forums may be challenging. The underlying sound issue on your iPhone cannot be accurately diagnosed from a YouTube link. Factors such as your iPhone's specific sound settings, visual defects, and potential hardware problems cannot be assessed through this method. For more personalized and in-depth assistance, I recommend securing a Genius Bar Reservation and exploring the various support options provided by Apple.

No the phone isn’t broken. I do have an iPhone se2. If it was the whole phone wouldn’t work. I was on the phone with Apple for at least 2 hours and resetting the phone till they eventually said I have to bring it to an Apple Store. I think the issue is in the latest iOS update and can’t be resolved till there is another update to fix this

Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. iOS 27 or later may have coincided with what you are experiencing, but that does not mean the issue was triggered by iOS. Coincidence in timing is not, by itself, evidence of causation.

If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook.

The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not a general, system-wide problem with iOS 27 or later, but rather something specific to the individual device, its configuration, installed apps, settings, hardware, or another interacting factor.

In short: iOS 27 or later may be a coincidence in timing, but there is no basis to conclude that iOS itself triggered the problem simply because the issue appeared after the update.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Maybe, I ought to specify the problem a bit as I can see that a person calls me on the screen, but the phone just does not ring. The speaker works perfectly during conversation, music listening etc. The only problem is that the phone does not produce ringing when getting incoming calls. I have contacted Apple Support, and they stated that this error has been reported by others, and that they are working to solve it. In the meantime I can just happily miss all my calls. As a last-ditch effort to solve it on my own, I was told to reset all settings, but I wonder if that would really help if we are dealing with a bug?

The problem is the update. I for a friend , not my phone. just spent 2 hours with apple on the phone. They reset the phone and didn’t fix. I had to rest all the setting for another hour. Then go online and find a fix by pushing various button . Apple was no help. My solution stop updating the phone. I have se and still have iso 18. No problems. There no need to do update every month. The solution simple don’t update no problems !!!! Just shut off where it say automatic update

Your logic is flawed. The whole phone can be ok apart from a speaker. It happened to my iphone12 and seen it reported here.
