New Apple Trackpad spontaneously taps and freezes

I have a touchpad unusable due to frequent tap, right tap and double tap occurring spontaneously. I have a new M6, new apple keyboard and new Apple track pad. It is unusable due to spontaneous double-taps, Right-taps and frozen computer waiting for a response from these spurious inputs from the track pad. Don't know if I should blame the track pad or the computer. Suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any and all advise.

Mac mini, macOS 27.0

Does a mouse or another trackpad work as expected? I'd create a new user or install a plain vanilla newest macOS Golden Gate to an external drive and test if the problem occurs there.

If there is still a problem, consult Apple Service or return the device if it is newer than 14 days.
