shipped faulty product and service centre doesn’t know how to repair

Worst apple service ever!

my macbook pro m4 max not even an year older ran into trouble in august, where the keyboard stopped working. The service centre took the device for one week and came back with full diagnosis and said issue was with topcase and replaced it. After collecting and using it for a week, the issue happened again now topcase is not working? Is this the glorified genius bar service? Now what they are saying after speaking to engineering team in IRELAND (mind you the international tech department) that we will try the logic board replacement if it still doesn’t work will try for topcase again? They still don’t know what the issue is after performing diagnosis and they are doing hit an trial in such an expensive product. And I have told them it’s extremely difficult for me to deposit my device since I earn my bread and butter from it. Yet they are persistent that this is the only solution. What if the device after their hit and trial stops working again? What if it’s a connector cable or something? Can I legally complain or do something about this? Desperate for help. No one in apple seems to be helping. This is my first and last apple device. Never trusting their service.

If your laptop uses a Lid Angle Sensor, then have Apple disconnect this sensor to see if that makes the problem go away. We've seen a lot of defective Lid Angle Sensors on these Apple Silicon Macs and a faulty one can appear as many different symptoms including non-functional built-in keyboard & trackpad and even power related issues. This is something very simple a repair tech can try and only takes a few minutes. I'm not sure very many Apple agents are aware of this.

Edit: Also, it is very difficult to troubleshoot & diagnose the hardware with these USB-C Macs, especially the Apple Silicon models. There are no easy options, they all involve trying one part at a time these days so unless the problem occurs 100% of the time, it is nearly impossible for a repair tech to be certain if the replacement part actually did the trick. These days it is all guess work & luck.

Take it back in for service if you want it resolved. I can not speculate on all your unknowns.

It appears you do not recognize nor appreciate all the help you are receiving from Apple in them trying to repair your device.

Your statement "And I have told them it’s extremely difficult for me to deposit my device since I earn my bread and butter from it." indicates that you believe your workflow is the responsibility of Apple. Most who depend on a tool/device for their "bread and butter" would use a workflow that included backup devices/processes so that device failure, all devices are subject to the possibility of failure, would not disrupt their workflow.

When you get your new non-Apple device, make sure you include a backup plan in case that device fails, and it will at some point, so that earning your "bread and butter" is not interrupted.

Hopefully your new device works well for you.

AND have a rehearsed Disaster Recovery Plan in-place so one might be able to actually “fail-over.”

Personally, when working in a particularly remote locale, I actually carry an extra Apple-activated and carrier-provisioned iPhone.

I purchased the device from apple website last year and they have not been able to diagnose the issue after performing 2 diagnostic test, right now they are presuming the next step of repair is logiboard which is coming to be completely okay on the tests, but they have no other option, after this if it still doesn't not get repaired they have no information on what is to be done. and extremely difficult service at the centre

hey fisherman, they are responsible of providing expertise in their repair and service, which they have failed to provide not once but twice. I was at the service centre for 5 hours today and 3 different executives told me 3 different stories. if I had signed a client work and I have no assurance of any timeline or what is happening to my device and what they can do it about it, I have to think for my bread and butter. the reason I bought a Mac in the first place was that I should be able to trust the technology of apple and a device repair happened once, now it is going again for one more week or more- and apple saying they obviously do not care about my workflow. as you mentioned. but they should care about the service they are providing, the technical experts, the failure on their part which affects my bread and butter in more ways than you can think. but will take your advice, and earn more bread and butter to afford a secondary high spec device for my work, Hook, line, and SINK.

I do hope it works out for you.

Just a small analogy, if I earned my bread and butter by printing documents I would ensure I had a backup plan to ensure I continued to earn if my printer died. I would likely have a second printer or at least access to a second printer. I would not blame any workflow interruption on the printer manufacturer. If I earned my income by mowing the lawns of homeowners, I would ensure I had access to a second mower to ensure my workflow/income was not affected if my mower died.

Best of luck with the repair and continued earning.

they have taken my device, submitted it and diagnose for a week, spoken to RTA team and their "proposed" resolution is logiboard, they do not know what the problem is. I am not aware of lid angle sensor, they have replaced the top case already, if you have more information on this so that I can speak to them about this, would you be able to share? thanks!
