New page inserts incorrectly in document on iMac

iMac Tahoe 26.6.2

Hello! Please can you help me! I have a WP document with 9 pages. I want to add a tenth. I select page 9 in the thumbnail view and press the + on the tool bar at the top. The new page appears between page 8 and what was page 9! I've tried this several times and I just cannot get a fresh page at the end. If it helps - I used another project as the starter layout for this one. The other project had nine pages . . . surely that shouldn't make a difference? Please help as this is A LOT of work and I'm going mad!

Well, it's still doing it this end. I even restarted my Mac to see if that helped. I've also tried on a previous, very similar document which has no copied and pasted content (ie I haven't used it like a template) and a brand new, empty, document. Both work, so I think it must be a corruption of this particular job as a result of changing the content. Lord knows why. One for your records!

What template are you using in this Pages document? I tested my previous answer with Pages v15.4 using a blank word-processing template and that worked as I explained.

I used a normal blank Pages. The 'template' is a document I previously wrote on a similar subject, so I just unlocked and deleted the original text/photos and replaced them with new ones. All was going fine until the new version proved to be a page longer than the one I was using - and then it wouldn't (and won't) add a new page at the very end.

I cannot replicate what you describe here. I have created a document with mixed text and images. I select the last thumbnail, and when I click the:

Toolbar item, the new page is appended immediately after the selected thumbnail. No page rearrangement occurs. If a new section thumbnail occurs after the preceding sections last thumbnail, a new page is inserted at the end of the preceding section, as would be expected.

Tested: Pages v15.3.1, Pages v15.4

The Add Page will insert a new page immediately after a selected thumbnail view entry. In your case, that should be the ninth thumbnail that is selected.

Thank you Viking. I select page 9 and an orange band appears around it, then I select add page and the page appears ABOVE page 9, moves my (former) page 9 to the end and makes IT page 10.

I have found no other approach here to duplicate what you describe. Every effort that I make to add a page to the end of a Pages document produces only that result.
