Currently running macbook pro golden gate 27.0.1, within iTunes, unable to move songs to a mounted ipod classic, no error messages, the songs are downloaded on the MacBook Pro. Nothing is currently transferring.

The iTunes application doesn't run on Golden Gate. These days, you'd load music into the Music application and then put it onto an iPod using the Finder.

If you are trying to transfer "offline listening" copies of Apple Music subscription songs, note that the iPod classic doesn't support those.
