HomePod (1st Generation – gapless playback/looping broken

Since updating my HomePod (1st generation) to the latest HomePod software, tracks that previously played continuously when using Repeat/Loop now have a short audible gap before the track starts again.

This is not limited to one particular track. I have tested several tracks that I have previously used on this HomePod and which looped seamlessly without any break. They now all have a noticeable gap at the loop point.

This problems occurred with HomePod software updates in the past, where gapless playback was subsequently restored in a later update.

Has Apple confirm whether this is a known issue with HomePod software 27 and whether a fix is being investigated?

HomePod: 1st generation

HomePod software: 27.x

Playback: Apple Music

Issue: Gap when a track repeats/loops

Thank you.
