Mac mini WiFI+Ethernet - Web Pages Cannot Load

Mac mini M4 2024 Golden Gate 27.0.1

No issues then today web pages cannot load.

Swapped Ethernet <> WiFi same issue

Same internet service working on iPhone, MacBook Air and a Television > no issues.

No VPN used

Time on auto

Tried changing DNS - Google and Cloudflare same issue as above

Ran the Wireless Diagnostics - bottom line is cannot resolve DNS

Tried closing all apps and a cold restart/start - no change

Removed and reset all cabling - at the Mini > power, ethernet then at the router > swapped ethernet connection, reconnected power etc etc

Looks like some sort of hardware failure in the Mac mini.

Any comments re. above then most welcome.

Thanks Dave

Your Mac mini M4 running macOS 27.0.1 cannot load web pages over either Ethernet or Wi-Fi, even though your other devices connect without problems.

You have already changed DNS servers, run Wireless Diagnostics, restarted the Mac, and checked the cabling and router connections. At this point, the cause is still unclear, and a hardware failure cannot yet be confirmed.

To narrow it down, open Terminal and run nslookup apple.com.

Record the complete output, including any error message. Then run scutil --dns to see which DNS resolvers macOS is using.

Next, connect the Mac mini to a phone hotspot. If web pages still will not load, check System Settings > Network for any configured proxies or filters, then try Safe Mode.

If the problem continues, run Apple Diagnostics or contact Apple Support.

Even if Diagnostics reports no problem, it cannot rule out every possible hardware fault.

These results should help narrow down the cause before you consider a repair.

Tried nslookup > ... no servers could be reached then scutil > #2 - #7 all not reachable. Resolver #1 reachable and DNS configuration > scoped requests reachable. At this point tried the Safari browser and, surprise, web pages loaded as if there had never been a problem. So, for about 4 hours no web followed by all working. Issue resolved - for the moment!
