iPhone 17 Pro Max AirPlay shows a blank screen on TV/Projector

I’m going to use AirPlay on my iPhone 17 Pro Max onto the TV/Projector, but it ends up having a blank screen when applied.

I have parental controls on, but aside from blank displays on AirPlay, I can still do many other functions on my iPhone, such as screen recording to video files. On top of that, settings for AirPlay/Screen Mirroring are normal, so that’s weird.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Connect with the same network as projector/TV
  2. Go to Screen Mirroring/Airplay
  3. Select the device for it
  4. Start Mirroring

Can you please give me tips on it along with knowing whether or not AirPlay is restricted by default?

Why You See a Blank Screen

  1. DRM Content Protection: If you are trying to mirror apps like Netflix, Disney+, or Apple TV+, they deliberately block screen mirroring to prevent piracy, resulting in a black/blank screen with audio only. Screen recording behaves similarly by turning black when copyrighted video plays.
  2. Screen Time / Parental Controls: Certain "Allowed Apps" or "Content Restrictions" in your Screen Time settings can interfere with media transmission permissions to external devices.
  3. Local Network Privacy: iOS requires explicit permission for apps to communicate with devices on your local network.
