How do I get the macOS Catalina .dmg installer? I have tried every single option of the support instructions (How to download and install macOS - Apple Support) with no luck...

Using a Mac qualified to run Catalina, and running at a minimum MacOS 10.11 El Capitan,
and logged in with your Apple-ID,
you use the section labeled Use the Mac App Store,
find the Catalina link,
click on it,
and the Mac App Store opens to Catalina download.
click (Get )and the software will be placed in the appropriate place to be installed, based on what version of MacOS you are currently running.
what is the sticking point?
