Facetime Login & Verification issue

Changed iPads. Trying to get Facetime working. Log in produces a verification message that goes to an Apple.inc page. The wheel of wonder just sits there spinning around with no end in sight.

Any thoughts?

iPad Air, iOS 12

Seems the iPad you are trying to use may not yet be a device that Apple trusts, ie : listed in your Apple Account (or even logged in to someone else's account ?).

Eg: Wondering whether you have signed in to the iPad you have changed to, with your Apple Account details:

See how to: Sign in with your Apple ID - Apple Support

and

if needed: Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support

Else: If there are no worries with the Apple Account details

For FaceTime:

Check things are set up and ready for calls:

Eg: Get started with FaceTime on iPad - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Set up FaceTime

Go to the Settings app, tap Apps, then tap FaceTime.

Make sure that you’re signed in to your Apple Account and FaceTime is turned on.

You can choose a default calling option for audio calls below Default Calling App. "

If more than one contact method appears below “You can be reached by FaceTime at,” you can tap to select or deselect it."

Re: "Fyi, it's iOS 9.3.5"

About iOS 9 Updates - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"iOS 9.3.6 addresses an issue that could impact GPS location performance and could cause system date and time to be incorrect. This update is recommended for all users."

____

Also: It seems that to have correct date and time on the device is a necessity for FaceTime use.

You may want to back up your data for safekeeping, and check for an update in Settings > General > Software updates.

You may want to check which model iPad you have to see if it is capable of updating beyond iOS 9.3.6 or not.

If so: See how to: Identify your iPad model - Apple Support

and

You can check the newest compatible iOS version for that model in the "User Tip" from a community member (link lbeow)

I'd like to thank you for your kind help.

The update is that, whilst my personal email address was fully verified by Apple and functioning, when it came to Facetime I took a wild stab idea at creating an email address using the icloud.com domain.

That worked. Weird.

The only thing it doesn't seem to be doing now is staying logged in to Facetime. I have to log in over and over again.

Anyway, thank you for all your input. It helps to have a human to interact with at such times.

I've been through all those steps already. When I go to Facetime in the Settings, sometimes the toggle is there, other times it's not and I have to re-sign in.

I sign in then it pops up with a 'verifying email address' message. I tap ok and it goes to the Apple Inc secure page and just sits there with the spinning thinking wheel.

The whole initial authentication, email and account verification for the iPad set up was done successfully prior to me trying to set up Facetime. The verification email came.

I also tried sending a support request, after which I received an email much later saying "Your iMessage account is ready to use.".

Fyi, it's iOS 9.3.5

The Facetime set up in Settings asks for a log in, which I do. It then pops up as needing to verify the email address. I click ok and it does take me to the Apple Inc page. That's where it just hangs.

Thank you for your kind continued help with this. I really appreciate it. It feels like I'm on my own here, so I am grateful to have someone to bounce this off.

There was a point where the login at the Settings menu seemed successful and the Facetime toggle appeared (versus just a login field) and it was green.

I then went to the actual Facetime app but that then required me to login all over again. Then the same hanging issue occurred.

When I went back to the settings, the toggle had disappeared and required a login all over again. This just cycles on like that constantly.
