Activating and using a US Apple HomeView in Italy

Hello everyone,

I’m interested in purchasing the new Apple HomeView, which is currently available for preorder in the United States. Unfortunately, the device is not officially available in Italy, where I live.

I have a friend in the US who could purchase it for me and ship it to Italy. However, before going ahead with the purchase, I’d like to understand whether I would be able to set it up and use it properly outside the US.

My main questions are:

• Would I be able to activate and set up a US-purchased HomeView in Italy using my Italian Apple Account?
• Would the device work normally with the Home app, FaceTime, Apple Music, smart home accessories, and other standard features?
• Since Siri AI is not currently available on iOS in the European Union, would this restriction prevent HomeView from being set up or used in Italy, or would it only affect certain features?
• Would I need a US Apple Account or a US-based address to activate the device?
• Are there any known regional restrictions that could prevent the device from working outside the countries where it is officially sold?

My main concern is whether the device would actually be usable here, particularly during the initial setup.

Has anyone had experience using an Apple device purchased in the US in a country where it is not officially available? Or does anyone have reliable information about HomeView’s regional restrictions?
