Communication Safety won't turn off on my new iPad Pro after updating it to 27.0.1

Since upgrading my iPad Pro (M5) to 27.0.1 only days ago, communication safety won't turn off. I didn't turn it on. I am locked out of chats with family and friends and many many websites.

My Apple Account Personal Information shows that i am confirmed 18+ years (Based on length of time I have had my account).

Ive tried most things that I can think of, info I've found on the web etc. All to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas please?

I found the solution.

Resets, etc, didn’t help.

I use my Apple ID to log into my iPad which is already age verified correctly.

BUT I use a different account for purchases. I deleted the Apple ID for purchases from the iPad and then logged in again with that ID. It popped up and asked me to verify age and everything is working fine since.

Bottom line, if you are using multiple IDs on your device, make sure that each ID is age verified.

If your iPad is not operating as expected, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated or post-update software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

If the Communication Security problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to assist with troubleshooting:

Thank you for this additional information. This was omitted from your original post.

If you are [uncommonly] signed-in to Apple services with a different Apple Account (formerly known as an AppleID), this will indeed have significant impact upon age-verified services.

Each Apple Account credential is individually evaluated against age and other entitlement criteria - the lowest common denominator determining the applied restriction.
