Yes it does. If you are seeing a message the eSIM installation is not supported it may be because the phone is Carrier Locked to a different service provider. Only the original carrier that locked their service to the phone can remove it.

Thank you for your response.

I’m having a hardware issue with my iPhone 11 (A2111). The physical SIM card reader no longer recognizes SIM cards. I tested my SIM card in another phone, and it works perfectly.

I contacted Apple Support and ran the available checks. The results indicated that both devices support eSIM. However, I’m still unsure about eSIM compatibility on my iPhone 13, which is the Chinese-market model (A2634).

I searched online but couldn’t find clear information confirming whether the Chinese-market iPhone 13 supports eSIM. Unfortunately, I haven’t received a clear error message that would help me determine whether eSIM activation is supported on my specific device.

My iPhone 11 (A2111) is the US-market model, while my iPhone 13 (A2634) is the Chinese-market model.

Could someone please clarify whether the Chinese-market iPhone 13 (A2634) supports eSIM, and whether there is a reliable way to verify this for my specific device?

I would really appreciate any clarification, as I’m trying to determine whether eSIM could be an alternative to the faulty physical SIM reader on my iPhone 11.

Thank you!

Assuming your model number ends with CH/A, it does not support eSIM. The iPhone 13 (A2634) is the variant for China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Apparently the Hong Kong model ending in ZA/A has eSIM support while the Chinese version does not. View the Model Number by going to Settings > General > About > Model Number.

  • The iPhone 13 A2634 is the exclusive version for China mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau. The Chinese version has some restrictions like disabled FaceTime Audio and Wi-Fi calling. If you buy the phone in Hong Kong, you don’t have those issues. Notably, the Chinese version supports dual nano-SIM cards while the model in Hong Kong has both dual nano-SIM cards and dual eSIM support.
