Issues with weekly calendar view on iPhone 11 after iOS 27.0.1 update

The new iOS 27.0.1 has changed the calendar on my iPhone 11. I can no longer choose weekly view without turning the phone to landscape and choosing it there. Then, even with compact mode on, the view is not easy to assess at a glance. Not very happy with that change. I also use an iPad Air, so I guess I’ll view my weekly calendar view there. Hopefully, they don’t take it away from the iPad, too.

You may have noticed this behaviour after updating to iOS 27.0.1, but that does not necessarily mean the update introduced the change. The weekly calendar view behaved exactly as you described on iOS 26 as well: the full weekly view is visible only when the Calendar app is used in landscape orientation. This behaviour was already present in iOS 26, so it is not a new change introduced by iOS 27.0.1.

Think about how the weekly calendar would look in portrait orientation. The screen would have to accommodate seven days in separate columns, leaving each column extremely narrow. The space available to display event titles and other details would be so limited that reading them would become difficult, if not practically impossible. Displaying the weekly calendar in landscape orientation provides more horizontal space, making it easier to view and read your events.

I have two devices, one running iOS 26.6.2 on an iPhone 12 Pro and the other running iOS 27.0.1 on an iPhone 13 Pro. I have deliberately kept them on different iOS versions so that I can verify such claims and respond to queries suggesting that a particular behaviour has changed after an iOS update.

Just because you first noticed a behaviour in iOS 27.0.1 does not mean that it was introduced in that version. To establish whether Apple has changed something, we need to compare the behaviour across iOS versions rather than assume that a newly noticed behaviour is the result of the latest update.

Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. iOS 27 or later may have coincided with what you are experiencing, but that does not mean the issue was triggered by iOS. Coincidence in timing is not, by itself, evidence of causation.

If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook.

The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not a general, system-wide problem with iOS 27 or later, but rather something specific to the individual device, its configuration, installed apps, settings, hardware, or another interacting factor.

In short: iOS 27 or later may be a coincidence in timing, but there is no basis to conclude that iOS itself triggered the problem simply because the issue appeared after the update.
