All Contacts have turned to dark text. Dark mode not activated.

I have an iPhone 17 with IOS 26.6.2. When I select a contact, the respective contact opens and all the information changes to a dark background with white text. It is extremely hard on my old eyes. If I go to "Edit" it turns back to white background with black text. When I hit the checkmark to go back, it turns back to a dark background. My wife has the same phone and same IOS and doesn't have that issue. What gives? I have not knowingly changed a setting that caused this. Is this a glitch in the software? Online comments have been no help. Dark mode is not active. Every contact is the same way. 725 of them. It would take forever to change each one individually. Surely there is a fix for this. This issue is extremely frustrating. Thanks for any assistance that can be provided.A

Dear Brian D.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that — it sounds like a display setting or a software quirk rather than individual contact data. First, check Settings > Display & Brightness to ensure Appearance is set to Light and Dark Mode is off, then go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and look for Smart Invert, Classic Invert, Color Filters, or increased Contrast options and turn any of those off; also verify Reduce White Point isn’t set very high. If those look normal, restart the iPhone, ensure iOS is up to date, and compare every relevant setting with your wife's phone (take screenshots of her Display and Accessibility screens) to spot differences. If the problem persists, try signing out and back into iCloud (after a backup), or reset all settings (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings) as a non-destructive troubleshooting step; if none of that helps, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store so they can check for a software bug or restore the device — do back up before any reset or restore so you don’t lose data.

Sincerely,

Xadi L.
